An evening at Admirals Galley

When Admirals commissioned this site, they invited me for supper.  I guess their thinking was, "Let him experience Admirals first hand, we will never be able to describe it".  Being the food lover that I am, I could not refuse the invitation.

The first thing that you notice when you enter Admirals is the scale of it.  The seating area is ample and the tables are well-spaced to create a comfortable dining experience.  From the corner of my eye I saw the hostess coming to welcome us.  She was friendly and helpful.  As we passed numerous tables on our way to mine, I took some time to drink in the atmosphere.  To my right was a table of about 20 people celebrating a twenty first birthday, the cake on the table with the 21 iced on it gave that away.  At another table some kids were licking away at their ice-cream soft-serve on a cone.  The patrons were digging into their meals, and the atmosphere was sublime.

A symphony of flavors enticed my senses, luring me to the food court.  Walking into the main serving area I was lost for choice.  How do you choose between more than 111 dishes?  All the dishes were grouped into areas, the starters and pastries together, stews and casseroles together, steak and ribs for the grill etc. etc.  The most stressful part of the evening was making up my mind.

When first glancing at the amount of food prepared I wondered if it would taste rushed and tasteless.  This was not the case.  Everything was tasty, and I realised that they took time perfecting their recipes and had customer satisfaction in mind.  At Admirals you will find a lot of food, prepared with a lot of care!

I had several small portions of about 6 different dishes before I attempted to conquer their desert area. The choice of waffles and ice-cream, hot or cold pudding, custard or marshmallows and the chocolate fountain was really intimidating, but ultimately the waffles rained victoriously.  Antoinette behind the waffle machine worked her magic and within a few minutes I was served with a freshly bakes waffle, she pointed me to the soft serve machine and I was on my way.

The food was amazing, but the service matched the food every step of the way.  Siyabonga at the grill took care and preparing my steak making sure it was medium rare as I requested.  Our waiter, a Zimbabwean immigrant called Kuda, was fantastic.  He reminded me of the true meaning of service.  He spoke little, but served and cleaned our table with the precision of a formula 1 racing driver.  He watched our table like a hawk, when a plate or glass was empty it disappeared.   Kuda kept a keen eye and waited to be summoned, and got every order spot on.

Our night had come to an end.  The whole family went away, more than satisfied.  Thank you for an absolutely marvelous dining experience.  It is with utmost confidence that I will refer my friends and clients to dine at your lovely establishment.
